The Creator Will Smile on Me

I just got word, a short while ago, that information regarding a debt that I owe to a credit card company has been distributed on cars throughout the City of Plainfield. I was served with papers on Thursday by a local police officer who works through the Sheriff’s office. The papers pertain to a lawsuit that was filed on behalf of the credit card company that seeks to recover the $46,000 that I owe. The papers that were served on me give me 35 days to respond; failure to respond could result in a judgment against me for the debt owed. Those are the facts.

As most of you know, I have been unemployed for almost two years, and like many of you I have been feeling the pain of the very harsh economy that has seen an unemployment rate hovering close to 10%. I am not immune to financial hardships; I am like all of the other people whose financial lives have been turned upside down due to their unemployment status and other special situations. Unlike most of the unemployed, I am also the victim of a very hostile political climate; one that has brought me to my knees and has rendered me BROKE. Over the past two years I have exhausted all of my financial resources, yet through the grace of God I have been able to make ends meet.

With that said, the attempt by those in law enforcement and politics to embarrass me has not and will not succeed. I am not ashamed of my current financial reality, and will not allow my financial reality to prevent me from reaching my goal of transforming Plainfield’s political landscape. Those who will attempt to use my unearned financial hardship, which was borne of political hatred and venom, will be very disappointed. I remain undaunted, undeterred, unbroken, unbowed, and unbent.

The behavior of those who seek to gain from my financial crisis and misfortune will be called into question, weighed in the balance, and found wanting. Those responsible for the dissemination of court papers served on me just this past Thursday will be investigated and held accountable.

I know beyond any doubt that my wife Amelia and our daughters love me, the Creator loves me, and the scores of friends that I have do love me, and so do the people of Plainfield who elected me as one of their trusted servants. This is what keeps me strong, this is what keeps me going and fighting for Plainfield. This is why I am asking all who read this post to let the rest of Plainfield know that we must reject this cruel act and those who are behind it.

On Tuesday June 7th, vote for Honest, Ethical Leadership for Plainfield, vote for all of the candidates in Column C.

I know, beyond any doubt, that the Creator will smile on me and I will repay every debt that I owe.

Regards,

Adrian

  1. Adrian,

As you know, I read Oswald Chambers's "My Utmost for His Highest" every day. Today's reading reminds me of your blog post: "Take hold of the Father’s assurance, and then say with strong courage, “I will not fear.” It does not matter what evil or wrong may be in our way, because “He Himself has said, ’I will never leave you . . . .’"

You are right--you are one of the strongest men I have ever met. Keep your head up, brother.

  3. But as for the cowardly, . . . and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, . . .

When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

But I say to you that . . . whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; . . .

    Need I say anymore.

  4. I am praying for you and your family, Mr. Mapp. Perhaps those unethical politicians who felt a need to publish this information should get on their knees as well. I believe we all have sins to be forgiven and blessings to be thankful for. We are blessed to have you representing us and I thank you again.

  5. May God Bless you and your family Adrian. As you know those who judge will receive the greatest judgement when the time comes.

  6. All I can say, Adrian, is that the people who have done this to you will die a slow painful death.

You are a better person than anyone who did this to you. They are poor excuses for human beings.

Also, remember that we are full of Christian people in Plainfield. Can't you tell by the Christian attitude that has been displayed toward you?

  7. Mr. Mapp,

Please do not be discouraged by the evil, evil people that don't have anything else to do beside steal personal information and distribute it to make themselves look good. I was always taught not to look down on a man unless you are reaching down to help him up. The politician that had this information distributed (too big of a lowdown coward to do it himself) need to be very careful of the hole he hopes to dig for you because he might find himself and his special police officer falling in it themselves. God does not like ugly and noone is above his reach.

Keep your head up, continue to move forward and be blessed.

  8. Mr. Mapp,

First and foremost, thank you for your post. You owe no one any explanation. I wish you well as you look for employment and I am glad to know you are making ends meet. The people who did this to you should be ashamed of themselves and will have to answer to God. Just like the writers of the Scarlet Letter, these people have made it quite clear that those of us working to expose and change the status quo here in Plainfield are having quite an impact on them. To stoop to such disgusting levels is proof of how desperate they are. So continue your good work undeterred and we will continue to stand behind you and others who have come forward without fear to do what is right. To be honest, when I first heard about this I thought to myself, "If Mapp is having financial difficulties, it shows us clearly that he isn't taking anything he isn't entitled to have." Those who did this to you probably have financial security because they steal it from the rest of us. Good luck to you!

  9. Hi Adrian, Jerry is a jerk. Just so there is no misunderstanding on the definition:

a : an annoyingly stupid or foolish person

b : an unlikable person; especially : one who is cruel, rude, or small-minded

Sounds like the definition was taylor made.

Many people are hurting and in your same situation. I hope they remember this when they vote.

  10. Mr. Mapp,

Sadly, you are not alone. I too have been out of work for 1 and a half years. It is a painful situation. People are losing their homes. People can't pay their bills. For anyone to exploit your situation in the name of politics is shameless.

My thoughts are with you and everyone else who find themselves in a similar situation. To those who used the opportunity to try and smear you, may they be fortunate enough to avoid the same fate.

  11. Adrian, Just when I think I could not admire and respect you more for the man that you are, you ratchet it up a notch. Shari and I have always believed in the honest, candid, steadfast way you conduct yourself and your post is no surprise. What continues to surprise me (blame it on my naivete) is how rotten people can be...supposed God fearing people.

You, Amelia, and the girls are loved, appreciated, and admired by those of us who cannot and will not be bought by anyone...who stand on the side of what's right and true.

You are an incredible man and beyond the blessings of your family lies something much grander on your horizon.

    Much love and respect,

    Julie A. Jerome

  12. I want to thank all of you for your understanding, for your kind and loving words of support and encouragement, and for holding me and lifting me up while I am down. I am truly humbled, and I feel blessed by the warmth that you have shown; it comforts me. I thank all of you.

    Regards,
    Adrian

  13. Hi Adrian.

I understand exactly where you are. Two years ago I had to make the difficult choice of declaring bankruptcy and giving up all my properties after being out of work for a long time.

    It's not fun.

Good people get into difficult situations that can be out of their control.

We are in a terrible economic time. When I was talking with my creditors, making arrangements -- all I heard was I was not alone. People don't realize that probably 20% of our population is out of work. We are not in a recession, but a depression, and I suspect it's going to take 5-10 years to 'recover'.

It was a difficult time. I was thankful for my friends and family. I'm now rebuilding and am positive about the future.

You will get through it too.
